Whilst there are cheaper scooters on the market, this is a great scooter for those who will need to travel a bit further or who will want to go on the road. It is actually quite fun to drive and would give the user a huge amount of freedom and comfort. With a charged battery range of up to 25 miles (depending on how many hills you travel and on the weight being carried,) this scooter can really travel some distance without needing to be charged. It is important to ensure suitability as this can travel at speeds of up to 8pmh. It is also essential to make sure that the seat and steering column are set up correctly to ensure maximum comfort, but Forbes engineers would do all of that for our customers. If you are looking for a road safe mobility scooter this is the best one on the market.
The Shoprider Cadiz is a market-leading scooter for pavement and road usage. It is designed to be exceptionally easy to use with forward / backward movement being controlled by a simple lever operation on the steering column. The scooter automatically stops when the lever is not activated. The tiller (steering column) is fully adjustable as is the seat to ensure that the controls and switches are within easy reach. The seat can swivel as well as moving forwards/backwards and up/down to make it easier to access. The speed can be adjusted by a simple dial to achieve up to 8mph for road usage.
Shoprider is a globally recognised brand and this scooter is extremely well made, and both impressively comfortable and easy to use. It is a bigger build than other scooters within our range but has been designed to be able to go longer distances and to achieve higher speeds. It has a neat charging unit and features a shopping basket at the front as well as storage in the back of the seat. The charging unit is easily accessible and it is charged via a standard three-point plug.
I was amazed at how comfortable the captain's chair is on the Cadiz. It is a larger seat than on other mobility scooters, and features adjustable arm rests. The seat moves significantly to cater a wide range of requirements and it feels like a car seat to sit on. The handlebars are soft to hold and the pneumatic tyres and suspension clearly contribute to the comfort of the ride, which feels really smooth, even on rough terrain.
With mobility scooters, safety is always of paramount importance, and this scooter feels robust and sturdy to use. The magnetic brakes respond immediately when the lever is released to bring the scooter to an immediate but smooth stop. It is designed in such a way that when the forward/ reverse lever is not applied it will not roll backwards, even on a hill. Whilst the scooter does have a useful ‘free-wheel’ function so that it can be moved about, it will not start until that is disabled. As this scooter can reach speeds of 8mph, it can be used on the road so features lights, indicators, hazard lights and a rear view mirror. Anti-tip wheels at the back of the scooter provide enhanced stability and ensure that the scooter will not topple over when you go up a curb.
