Optimise Your Laundry Routine with our Tumble Drying Tips.

Whilst we all look to conserve energy in the home, the British weather is unfortunately such that we certainly can’t rely on being able to dry our clothes outside. It also is far from ideal to have damp laundry draped around our homes, drastically increasing moisture levels and creating breeding grounds for harmful mould spores. Consequently, a tumble dryer is an invaluable household addition although it is important to be mindful of choosing a more energy efficient model, and to consider the ways in which you can minimise consumption. Forbes is here to help you on both counts.
Here are our top energy-saving laundry tips:
Strike the balance:
Optimise your tumble dryer's efficiency and minimise cycles by ensuring that you have a full load but avoid overloading. This allows for better air circulation and faster drying times.
Use a spin cycle:
Using a spin cycle before you load the dryer will be more efficient as excess moisture will be removed first.
Dry similar fabrics together:
Drying similar materials together reduces drying time and prevents items being overdried, as materials with similar moisture levels dry more evenly.
Clean the filter:
Clean the lint filter before each use to maintain optimal airflow and energy efficiency.
Use sensor drying:
Take advantage of our Bosch tumble dryers’ sensor settings to automatically stop the cycle when clothes are dry. This prevents any unnecessary energy consumption.
User the timer setting:
If you prefer manual control, use the timer settings to avoid over-drying and save energy.
Always untangle garments:
Untangling and separating items as you put them in to the dryer will help to expedite the drying cycle, saving both time and energy.
Dry consecutive loads:
By washing one load after the other you will save energy as you will be using the dryer whilst it is still residually warm.
