A domestic kitchen with modern appliances

Spring is the perfect time to give your home a deep clean – including your essential appliances! Follow these simple tips to keep everything fresh, efficient and in good working order.

Washing machines

  • Run an empty wash at 90 degrees (using cotton programme or a drum clean program if your model has one). Add white vinegar or a washing machine cleaner to remove limescale and bacteria.

  •  Wipe the drum, seals, and detergent drawer.

Vented Tumble Dryers

  • Clear out lint from the filter after every use.

  • Carefully check that the vent hose is free from lint build-up and check the outside vent is free from debris.

Condenser Dryers

  • Empty and clean the water reservoir after each cycle.

  • Remove and rinse the heat exchanger under running water to clear lint and residue.

  • Clean the lint filters regularly – some condenser dryers have two.

  • Wipe the drum and door seals with a damp cloth to prevent build-up.

  • Wipe air intake vents to prevent overheating.

Kitchen Appliances

  • Fridge & Freezer: Defrost if needed. Remove shelves, wash with warm soapy water, and wipe the inside with a mix of water and baking soda to neutralize odours.

  • Oven & Microwave: Use a baking soda paste or a dedicated cleaner for stubborn grease. Microwave a bowl of water with lemon juice for 5 minutes to loosen grime for easy wiping.

  • Dishwasher:  Run an empty cycle with white vinegar and clean the filter to remove trapped food and odours.

How to Clean Your TV Without Damage

  • Turn it off & unplug it – this prevents streaks and static build-up.

  • Use a microfiber cloth – avoid paper towels that can scratch the screen.

  • No harsh chemicals!  – lightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner.

  • Gently wipe in a circular motion – don’t press too hard.

  • Dust the vents & ports – use a dry cloth to keep airflow clear.
