Overlay LinkWe have put together a list of practical and logistical essentials for the safe and efficient installation of built-in appliances. Our team of experts can advise customers on any relevant guidelines as well as plumbing and cabling requirements. All equipment is fully installed and commissioned by our Installation teams.
Electrical hardware and plug sockets must be kept at a safe distance. The minimum clearance between appliance installation and the electrical connection is 1.5 metres and there needs to be a red isolating switch within reach of the appliance.
Cavity space needs to be carefully measured to ensure that the appliance will fit and to allow for any necessary ventilation.
It is imperative that there are no combustible materials in the immediate vicinity of a hob or cooker. Construction materials such as wallpaper, wood and must be kept at a safe distance from the heat despite any flame-proofing, fire-retardant treatment, surface painting or plastering.
Oven hoods need to be situated at a minimum of 75cms above any hobs or cookers.
It is important to consider the appliance's amp rating as there can be huge discrepancies between the power that is required from one model to another. We advise customers of the amp rating of their chosen product and it is important to check this against the electrical set-up at the site of installation. Plug sockets will indicate the existing amp rating.
